Deadly flooding hits southern China

Residents in southern China are bracing themselves for more heavy rain after nearly a week of torrential and virtually unrelenting downpours triggered deadly floods and landslides. At least 69 people have been killed and 44 more are missing, according to state media. The government said more than 1.4 million people living near riverbanks and in low-lying areas have had to be evacuated, the official China Dailysaid on Saturday.
